Applying for the Apple Affiliate Program

As read on TUAW last Tuesday, Apple has made changes to its Affiliate Program by making it available to more countries. This was made possible by bringing in a new affiliate program partner -- Performance Horizon Group (PHG). PHG adds more countries (more than 100) which include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Turkey and many countries in Asia, the Middle East and Africa (Source: TUAW).

I have been maintaining this blog since 2011 and the change to the program made me really excited. The additional countries might just give me a chance to enter the affiliate program again. I once applied for it but unfortunately I did not get in. I've applied for Google Adsense, Nuffnang and Amazon Associates to monetize my blog but the affiliate program from Apple is just close to my heart because my contents are about Apple -- its devices and the App Store.

So after reading that article from TUAW, I immediately applied for the program. The first step I did was actually wrong because I created an account directly to PHG. I overlooked the article and realized that I should apply via Apple. You can check out this page on how to apply. Just fill out all the information that Apple needs and submit the form. You'll get an email notification from Apple saying that they will review the application for five days. Fortunate enough, my application got approved for one day only. That was really fast and I'm very happy to finally get approved.

After getting approved in the program, I took time to read the Affiliate Resources page and Identity Guidelines to ensure that I don't get removed from the program. It's very informative and it provides guidelines on proper branding and naming of Apple's services.

I'm still at the early stages of the program and I'm seeing growth potential here given the content of my site. Google's Adsense is doing good as well on my site and I'll be keeping these two monetizing agents. The other ads have been removed already. If you are a blogger like me who writes articles related to Apple and its products, this is something you should apply for.
